Whilst gridiron fans in the Land Down Under had to content themselves with a mediocre NCAA game betwixt Cal and Hawaii, Londoners are being treated to a NFL regular season game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Washington Redskins at THE Wembley Stadium.
Early rising, football obsessed Yanks can watch the game beginning at 9 a.m. Eastern time. Aussies with any interest who do not mind staying up past their bedtimes can see the contest on Monday at 11:00 p.m. AEST.
NFL games can easily run 3- ½ to four hours, depending on the amount of officiating conferences necessary, so we advise anyone who want to be in peak form for the Melbourne Cup to pass on this one, since the Bengals and the Redskins are middlers in the true sense of the word. Through seven games, the Bengals as 3 – 4 and the Redskins are 4 – 3.
Both of these teams will be dead in terms of the playoffs in a few more weeks.
So, do not feel slighted, or envious toward the Brits. The NFL has been tantalising them for years with the temptation of a franchise in London, but if the NFL were truly serious, it would put on a meaningful game between two top-flight teams.
