It has been 11 years since Australian boxing veterans Anthony Mundine and Danny Green staged their memorable first fight and the long-awaited rematch will be held at the Adelaide Oval on February 3.
The undercard should get underway around 7 pm AEDT and the main event about three hours later.
Hopefully, they will not tear up the ground too much, or their will be time for it to recover before the Crows host the Greater Western Sydney Giants on March 25 in an eagerly anticipated round 1 matchup.
Anthony “The Man” Mundine brings 53 fights-worth of experience into the ring, with a record of 47 – 7 – 0 and 27 KOs.
Danny “The Green Machine” Green has 38 fights behind him, with a record of 33 – 5 – 0 and 28 KOs.
Back in 2006, when the first meeting between the two boxers was staged in Sydney Football Stadium, both men were at their peaks. The fight represented a record pay-per-view haul that was won by unanimous decision by Mundine, who used superior speed and a devastating jab to best Green.
One thing is certain. The rematch will not take anywhere near the 11 years to complete. Green is the short-priced favourite on Sportsbet at $1.42 to Mundine’s $2.90.
