Knights v Storm (2pm AEST)
Newcastle +7.5 ($1.90)
Get the chips in the middle for the Newcastle Knights, who are the clear bet of the week in Round 8. It is astonishing how short Manly are here considering how injury depleted they are and how patchy their form has been. Newcastle were awful against the Broncos – embarrassing – but teams humiliated like that tend to bounce back at home the next start. At any rate early season home underdogs getting at least 4 points hit at around 75% and is one of the most reliable angles in Rugby League. Back the Knights every which way.
Dragons v Roosters (4pm AEST)
Under 36.5 ($1.90)
The Anzac Day clash is one of the most anticipated of the year – but unfortunately punters have been handed a difficult betting matchup this year. The Roosters are due a change of luck with four losses from four close games but the Dragons have beaten all the teams they really should have this year and are arguably overachieving despite a horrid attack. The best play in this one is probably the under. The Dragons are 7-0 under this year and neither team looks to have too many points in them.
Storm v Warriors (7pm AEST)
Under 38.5 ($1.90)
Playing against road teams off a win has been a good way to an earn this year and Melbourne are typically reliable at home – but as a cover proposition, not so much. The best play in this match – as has usually been the way on Monday night matches – is to play the under. The under has hit at a nearly 66% strike rate in close betting games this year, Melbourne go under when a small home favourite and the under is the way to play with a small road dog off a win.
