Jockey Of The Month Brenton Uvdulla

Jockey Of The Month - Brenton Avdulla

Brenton Avdulla is our BetsFree February 2016 Jockey of the Month. Brenton performed a courageous piece of horsemanship at Rosehill on Wednesday, after winning the Darren Nichols Handicap aboard Zaralily.

Moment after competing horses crossed the line, apprentice jockey Andrew Adkins, who had been riding Double Bluff, which finished second, was unseated. The ‘on the ball’ Avdulla reached over in a flash and grabbed the reins of the riderless horse to prevent it from careering away. His action prevented the horse injuring itself or someone else. Adkins was unhurt but was stood down from further racing as a precautionary measure.

Brenton Avdulla has also recorded thirteen wins in the saddle over the last three weeks, which are excellent results for the top class jockey. Known for his aggressive riding style, which makes him a favourite with the punters, Brenton Avdulla is a worthy winner of the BetsFree.com.au Jockey of the month. Originally from Victoria, he has formed a strong partnership with the Gai Waterhouse stable over the last few years. More recently he has ridden a number of winners in big races for the trainer Gerald Ryan, including the 2014 Group 1 Lightning Stakes aboard Snitzerland. Avdulla was the winning jockey on Happy Clapper in the Villiers Stakes.

Jockey Of The Month Brenton Avdulla

Brenton Avdulla appears at the top of lists of jockeys riding overall winners in NSW, with 147 from 884 rides in this state.

He is currently equal fifth in the jockey’s premiership and is sure to make a concerted charge as the season gets to the serious end of business. He is regarded as one of the very best jockeys in Sydney and is a popular feature race rider with all the major trainers. He was aboard Rebel Dane winning the Group 2 Bowerman’s Furniture The Shorts and Silverball in the Group 3 Kingstown Stakes.

Brenton Avdulla has a full race card of rides at Hawkesbury today and Path of Justice and Shacked Up look like excellent chances. BetsFree would like to congratulate Brenton Avdulla for his excellent horsemanship, courage and consistency as a top Sydney jockey.

With a few more winners today he could move up into the top 3 positions on the NSW jockey’s premiership table. James McDonald and Hugh Bowman are his most likely adversaries in the hunt for the premiership; Bowman won it last year and may repeat his success again in 2016. BetsFree wishes Brenton Avdulla well and may the best man or woman win.
