Craig Williams Jockey Of The Month December 2015

Jockey Of The Month Craig Williams

Jockey Of The Month - Craig Williams

The BetsFree Jockey of the Month is Craig Williams. Craig recently rode a treble at Sandown in Victoria. He is now only four back from the lead in the jockey’s premiership in that state.

Craig rode his winning treble in the last three races on the Sandown card. In race six he was aboard the up and coming three year old Popovich when he crossed the line first. He followed this win up with wins on Egypt and Bascule in consecutive races.

Craig Williams now has thirty two metropolitan wins this season, which is four behind current leader Dwayne Dunn and one behind Damien Oliver, who is currently in second spot.

This triumvirate contested last year’s premiership, which went right down to the wire, with Damien Oliver taking the chocolates over Williams by two and Dunn was another one win behind. It looks to be another exciting battle this year.

Williams is a highly regarded professional jockey who has ridden at racetracks all over the world. He has won big races in Hong Kong, UK, Japan, France and Dubai. Craig has also ridden the winners of the Caulfield Cup, Cox Plate and Golden Slipper. He is still searching for that first Melbourne Cup win. Craig began his riding career as apprentice to his dad Alan in the early nineteen nineties.

Craig Williams Jockey Of The Month

Craig Williams enjoyed a prolific partnership with trainer David Hayes in the first decade of the twenty first century before being controversially sacked because a prominent owner did not rate him.

By his own admission, his success has come through diligence and hard work, than by mere talent. Craig Williams is famous for his preparation before races, both physical and mental. He is known as a track walker and follows form assiduously. Craig Williams has never let the knocks in horse racing get him down and he bounced back from his sacking in style.

Craig Williams has won four jockey’s premierships and a host of Group One races across the globe. Williams had a good win on Holler in the recent Group Two Australia Stakes for trainer John O’Shea and the Godolphin stable. Williams combines most prolifically with horses trained by Robert Smerdon.

BetsFree congratulates Craig Williams as a very worthy winner of our jockey of the month and wishes Craig the best of luck for the rest of the season. He is in fine form now and things are only going to hot up in the weeks to come.
