Gee Gee Double Dee | Horse Of The Month January 2016
Gee Gee Double Dee - Horse Of The Month
This month’s selection hails from the Apple Isle, racing at Hobart and Launceston, and goes by the stirring moniker of Gee Gee Double Dee.
This young filly at just two year’s of age has strung three wins from three starts. Trained by Leon, Dean and Trent Wells, and owned by PA Geard and Mrs EJ Geard, the horse has won $37 650 so far, and has the attractive record of a one hundred percent win rate. A brown horse sired by Wordsmith and her dam is Josies Double, whose sire was West Quest.
Gee Gee Double Dee is heading to Hobart, next up on the 8 February 2016 to contest the Elwick Stakes over 1100m at Hobart.
Then, the 2 YO brown filly will race in the Gold Sovereign Stakes at Launceston on the 24 February 2016. Both races are worth $100 000. An interstate campaign cannot be too far away if Gee Gee Double Dee continues to salute the winning post. It will be the first horse to head to the mainland for prominent Tassie owners Paul and Elizabeth Geard.
Gee Gee Double Dee won first up the Treasury Wine Estates Plate over 900m at Hobart on the sixteenth of November 2015; with Sigrid Carr in the saddle.
Then, the Raine and Horne Sorell 2 YO Handicap, also over 900m at Hobart on the twenty ninth of November 2015; again with Sigrid Carr in the saddle. Finally, the Ensign Lodge Alfa Bowl over 1120m at Launceston on the thirteenth of January 2016; this time with Craig Newitt in the saddle, in place of the suspended Sigrid Carr.
Gee Gee Double Dee is a deserving winner of the BetsFree Horse of the Month and we wish her every success in the future. As her trainer, Leon wells, said, “She is only a baby.“
